Insurer goes after business using matching .io domain name.
SageSure, a large insurer covering catastrophe-prone states, has filed a lawsuit (pdf) against the operators of SageSure.io.
The insurer uses the domain name SageSure.com.
A company called MapleSage registered SageSure.io in November 2025 and operates a site offering “AI-powered insurance operations from quote to claim”.
MapleSage appears to be active in the insurance and retail sectors.
SageSure sent multiple notices to MapleSage before filing the suit, but said it did not hear back from MapleSage.
The lawsuit brings six counts, including federal trademark infringement, counterfeiting, and cybersquatting under the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA).
By filing a lawsuit rather than a .IO Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (a variation of UDRP), SageSure hopes to get an injunction against further infringement as well as monetary damages.
Welsh IP Law LLC is representing SageSure.
