Citrix ranked highest for all 4 Use Cases in the Gartner® Critical Capabilities for Desktop as a Service Report

The 2024 Gartner® Critical Capabilities for Desktop as a Service report is designed to help IT leaders evaluate Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solutions to choose the right provider for their business. Vendors must meet the Gartner Inclusion Criteria to be included and are evaluated based on 15 critical capabilities. These 15 critical capabilities fall under four Use Cases: Remote Workers, High Security and Compliance, High Performance, and Custom Enterprise Architecture.

Gartner ranked Citrix highest in all 4 of these Use Cases.

Key considerations for choosing a DaaS solution

DaaS solutions offer a number of key advantages. “DaaS removes some of the operational complexity of virtual desktops; however, it also introduces other factors (e.g., variable costs, lack of configuration flexibility and network complexity).’’ According to Gartner, clients surveyed in this report said that DaaS costs were their biggest pain point since pay-per-use consumption costs can vary widely.

Considering this information, it’s key that DaaS buyers look for solutions that come with cloud spending tools to help the organization control cloud costs. For example, Citrix DaaS comes with Autoscale, which scales cloud machines up and down based on a schedule or workload to control costs. In addition to cost controls, it’s important that buyers evaluate employee use cases to select the vendor that best fits their organizational needs.

Capabilities for complex DaaS environments

Within the 2024 Critical Capabilities for Desktop as a Service report, Gartner identifies the must-have capabilities for DaaS vendors, including the ones mentioned below:

  • A cloud control plane, from where DaaS operations are performed, that is managed and maintained by the vendor that brokers connections to VMs hosted by a public cloud or other service provider.
  • A remote desktop protocol that provides secure access to virtual desktops or applications.
  • A tool to manage virtual desktop resources, users and assignments.

In addition, Gartner identifies the standard capabilities including image management technology to allow central updating or management of VMs.

In our view, Citrix is the trusted partner in application and desktop virtualization as we not only do we provide all the must-have and standard capabilities, but we also have features and solutions to support the optional capabilities identified by Gartner.

Along with our position within the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Desktop as a Service, we’re proud to be ranked first in all Use Cases in the Critical Capabilities report.

Supporting complex, large-scale enterprise IT

Citrix was ranked highest by Gartner in Remote Workers, High Security and Compliance, High Performance, and Custom, Enterprise Architecture Use Cases. In our view, our product innovation around our hybrid capabilities, cloud integrations, advanced monitoring capabilities, and security features contribute to this ranking.

Citrix offers one of the broadest sets of features like protecting sensitive business data, managing onboarding and offboarding, and so much more. Not only does Citrix support the most graphically intensive workloads with our industry-leading HDX protocol, but we offer extensive peripheral support for specialized devices like Bloomberg keyboards, dictation devices, and more.

We know that every enterprise has unique IT needs. That’s why we offer capabilities to support Azure, Windows 365, Amazon WorkSpaces Core, Google IaaS, and a variety of hypervisors. In addition, we have invested in making sure we offer the same features for our on premises and cloud solutions, so enterprises that need on premises solutions can still take advantage of cloud innovations. No matter what IT solution your enterprise needs, Citrix has you covered.
