Samsung will reintroduce a dual-processor strategy for the Galaxy Z Flip8. Supply chain details indicate that European and South Korean models will use Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 2600 chipset, while North America and other global regions will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 silicon.

Why The Focus On The Galaxy Z Flip8 Chipset Is Important

The Samsung Galaxy community prefers Snapdragon's power and performance over Exynos.

When comparing the like-for-like chipsets, the Samsung community regard the Snapdragon chipset as the more powerful of the pair, while the Exynos offers longer battery life. These margins are small, but for those looking to maximise their smartphone’s potential, they are critical. The sentiment has been borne out time and again, as in Trusted Reviews' recent look at the Exynos and Snapdragon variants of Samsung’s Galaxy S26.

It’s perhaps not as important in the Galaxy Z Flip8 as it is with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The latter is right at the top of Samsung’s portfolio, the smartphone that leads not just Samsung’s smartphones, but for many leads all of the Android ecosystem. The vertical clamshell Z Flip range is as much about fashion and form as it is about brute force and flagship specs.

Which Galaxy Z Flip8 Will Get Which Chipset?

South Korean and European Models Will Get The Exynos 2600, while the rest of the world will get Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

South Korean publication The Bell is reporting comments from insiders in Samsung’s MX manufacturing division. Noting that ultimate performance is not a primary consideration in the design, Samsung will equip European and South Korean models with the Exynos 2600 chipset and phones supplied to the rest of the world will likely come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

This stands in contrast to 2025’s Galaxy Z Flip7. Samsung’s Exynos 2500 was a universal choice, powering phones across regions.

The Financial Advantage Of The Galaxy Z Flip8

Samsung could be using a Snapdragon-powered Galaxy Z Flip7 to balance stock and boost sales.

If that’s the case, why would Samsung offer Snapdragon-powered variants of the Flip8? That’s unclear at the moment. One likely possibility is that yields on the Exynos 2600 chipsets will fall short, or that demand for the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S26 variants is not meeting expectations. Either of these would make this decision an exercise in balancing out silicon stock.

Another possibility is that this is one of the few areas where the Galaxy Z Flip8 can outperform the Z Flip7. The currently reported specifications of the flip-phone point to 2026’s model shipping with the same battery, camera, and charging options. Shipping a Snapdragon model into key territories, such as North America, may boost sales.

When Will The Galaxy Z Flip8 Go On Sale?

Samsung should announce the Galaxy Z Flip8 alongside the now-traditional Galaxy Z Fold8 and a new foldable form factor: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide will feature an inner screen with a Galaxy Tab-like ratio. Dates for the summer Galaxy Unpacked event have not been confirmed, but is widely expected to be July 22, 2026.
