Garmin D2 Mach 2 Pro

The Garmin D2 Mach 2 Pro has just been released, and it combines specialist aviation features with potentially life-saving InReach Garmin watch connectivity tech.
Dubbed “the ultimate aviator smartwatch,” the $1,549 Garmin D2 Mach 2 Pro adds mobile internet and satellite connectivity to the company’s watch series for aircraft pilots.
This is not simply a new version of the Garmin D2 Mach 2, released in 2025, with extra features, though. Its design is different too. It has a more eye-catching bezel, made of titanium, and includes a “chestnut leather” strap as well as a silicone one.
It joins just small a handful of Garmin watches with InReach tech, which allows for communication over satellite and LTE mobile internet without a connection to a phone.
This is used for calls on the watch itself, to share location when not up in the air, and to communicate with Garmin’s own “emergency response center.” All this does not come for free. It requires an ongoing subscription, which starts at $7.99 a month and rises to $49.99 a month for the top Premium plan.
While a lot of the Garmin D2 Mach 2 Pro’s features are shared with Garmin’s other top watches, the Mach line also provides flight-first features too, including an airport database and aerodrome reports.
The watch is only available in a 51mm diameter size, limiting you to the less connected standard D2 Mach 2 if you want the 47mm version.
Despite the use of low-weight titanium this is a relatively hefty watch, weighing 90g with strap or 65g just for the central unit. It’s similar in weight to the 61.6g Apple Watch Ultra.
The watch costs $250 more than the 51mm Garmin Fenix 8 Pro, which also has that all-important InReach tech, minus the flight-specific extras. You also get 40m dive readiness, Sapphire screen protection and up to 24-day battery life. This is just slightly less than the 27-day Fenix 8 Pro.
Like most of Garmin’s new watches these days, the D2 Mach 2 Pro has an OLED screen, a 1.4-inch 454 x 454 pixel one, and there’s no option of an MIP display version.
Garmin’s aviation watch series began in 2013 with the original Garmin D2, which cost $449 at launch. Today’s $1,549.99 D2 Mach 2 Pro Garmin watch is available to order now.
