The new Keychron Thunderbolt 5 docking station is the first of its kind to be produced by the brand which is best known for its keyboards and mice.

Keyboard and mouse maker Keychron is expanding its range of products with the launch today of its first Thunderbolt 5 dock. The new 14-in-1 docking station is designed to expand a Thunderbolt laptop’s connectivity and it’s all done with a single cable.
Powered by an Intel-certified Thunderbolt 5 controller chip, the Keychron new dock can drive up to four external displays and has a combined bandwidth of 80Gbps and 140W charging capability with a total of 14 ports housed in a compact aluminum enclosure.
Many of the latest laptop computers have enough processing power onboard to replace traditional desktop computers. However, connectivity can often end up being fragmented with adapters, hubs and multiple cables.
It all makes for a messy setup. The new Thunderbolt 5 standard changes that by providing enough bandwidth to drive multiple displays, external storage, high-speed networking and laptop charging, all through a single cable.
The front of the Keychron Thunderbolt 5 docking station has a power switch, two USB-A ports, a 10Gbos USB-C port and an audio jack.

The new Keychron Thunderbolt 5 Dock has been designed to supply 80Gbps bidirectional bandwidth with up to 120Gbps Bandwidth Boost when used for display-intensive workflows. A single cable between the dock and host laptop carries the signals for displays, storage, networking, audio devices and peripherals.
Depending on the operating system and configuration of the host laptop, the docking station can support multiple displays from a single 8K/60Hz display or up to a quartet of 4K displays. The docking station has 14 ports, including Thunderbolt 5, HDMI, USB-A, USB-C, 2.5G Ethernet, SD and microSD slots, as well as audio connectivity.
When it comes to charging, the Keychron dock can deliver up to 140W of PD3.1 charging through a single laptop charging cable. The package includes a 180W GaN power adapter.
As well as being Thunderbolt 5 compatible, the docking station also supports Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 devices with both Windows and macOS operating systems. The circuitry is housed in an aluminum construction designed to be both durable and to efficiently dissipate any heat buildup.
At the rear of the Keychron Thunderbolt 5 docking station are three Thunderbolt ports, two USB-A ports, an Ethernet 2.5Gbps port and two HDMI ports.

Because docking stations are designed to power and charge other peripherals, Keychron has included electrical safety features like reverse current protection and power management for any connected devices.
“Keyboards and mice are only part of the modern workspace,” says Fab Chan, co-founder of Keychron. “As our users added more displays, storage, and accessories to their setups, connectivity became a natural area for us to explore. The Thunderbolt 5 Dock brings the same focus on performance, build quality, and usability to the infrastructure that keeps those workspaces running.”
The launch of a Thunderbolt 5 dock marks Keychron’s broader expansion into making desk and workflow tools. While the company is probably best known for its mechanical keyboards and mice, the new dock moves Keychron’s focus from devices people interact with directly to the advanced hardware that can connect and power an entire workspace.
“We’ve spent years building products that sit at the center of people’s desks,” says Chan. “A dock plays a similar role. It connects everything together, reduces friction, and helps create a cleaner, more capable workspace. This is the first product in a category we plan to keep investing in.”
