Blink has announced two new video doorbells that finally bring 2K resolution to the Amazon-owned brand’s budget-friendly front door lineup.

The new devices are the Blink Wired Doorbell 2K+ and Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+, and the clue to the headline new feature is in the name.

However, the bigger story here is probably the price, with the wired model landing at $39.99, which immediately makes it one of the cheapest 2K video doorbells from a brand you’ve actually heard of.

Blink says both doorbells feature upgraded 2K video quality and improved dynamic range, which should help with tricky lighting conditions like bright porches, shaded entryways, and bright skies behind anyone who comes knocking at your door.

The battery-powered version also adds a head-to-toe field of view, making it easier to see packages left at your door instead of just someone’s face filling the frame.

Previous Blink doorbells could run wired or on batteries, but still depended on a Sync Module hub. The new wired-only version drops battery support entirely and can work without a Sync Module.

However, unlike battery-assisted wired doorbells, there’s no fallback power option if your electricity goes out.

Both new doorbells also offer Blink’s newer AI features, including Smart Video Descriptions.

Available in the US through Blink’s AI subscription tiers, the feature generates text summaries of motion events so you can quickly understand what happened without watching the full clip.

Blink’s example is the kind of thing we’ve started seeing across the smart camera space lately, with notifications along the lines of “person playing basketball in the driveway.”

Those AI-generated summaries require either the Blink AI Basic or Blink AI Plus plan. The Basic AI tier costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 annually for a single device, although Blink is currently discounting the first year to $49.99.

Homes with multiple Blink cameras will likely need the Plus AI plan instead, which costs $19.99 monthly or $199.99 yearly, with an introductory first-year price of $149.99.

If all you want is standard cloud recording and person alerts, Blink still offers its existing subscription plans starting at $3.99 a month or $39.99 annually per camera.

Going subscription-free leaves you with live view access, motion notifications, and two-way audio.

Like the rest of Blink’s ecosystem, the new doorbells work through the Blink app for live viewing, alerts, and device management.

Local recording is also still an option, either through the Blink Sync Module XR with an SD card or the Blink Sync Module 2 with USB storage.

The new doorbells are available to preorder now ahead of a May 20 release. As stated, the Wired Doorbell 2K+ is $39.99 in the US, £39.99 in the UK; and the Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+ is $69.99 / £59.99, or $79.99 / £69.99 bundled with a Sync Module.
