British Audio Brand’s New Compact Speakers Made For Modern Spaces

Monitor Audio Radius On-Wall 4G on media wall

The new Monitor Audio Radius 4G Series of speakers include wall-mounted models for home theater setups.

MONITOR AUDIO

British audio brand Monitor Audio has announced the launch of its new Radius Series 4G, a comprehensive reinvention of one of Monitor Audio’s most celebrated ranges of compact loudspeakers.

Built upon Monitor Audio’s Transparent Design Philosophy, the Radius Series 4G is designed to achieve the ideal balance between acoustic engineering and contemporary aesthetics, serving up high-fidelity sound from speakers designed to catch the eye as well as the ear.

The Radius Series 4G is made up of three speakers: the Radius 1, Radius 3 and Radius On-Wall, alongside a range of matching accessories, including a custom floor stand, desk pad, and two wall bracket mounting solutions.

The range is a scalable speaker system designed for everything from stereo listening to full multi-channel home theater, multi-room audio, commercial installations and near-field desktop use.

The new Monitor Audio Radius 4G Series include these optional speaker stands with their striking design.

MONITOR AUDIO

Acoustic Performance

At the heart of the Radius Series 4G is a series of technological advancements, each developed to raise the performance benchmark in the compact speaker category. Monitor Audio’s proprietary Ceramic-Coated Aluminum/Magnesium cone technology is central to the Radius 4G’s driver design. C-CAM is a lightweight, strong and more rigid than conventional cone materials. It works pistonically and can deliver high levels of fidelity.

For this 4th generation, Monitor Audio’s C-CAM technology uses the Rigid Surface Technology for the cone geometry. Monitor Audio claims the shape is designed to reduce breakup and resonances across the entire frequency range to produce a more accurate and natural sound.

The Radius Series 4G also introduces a completely redesigned C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. Departing from conventional architecture, the new tweeter uses an external magnet motor system, like a full drive unit, instead of the more usual internal puck magnet.

The Monitor Audio Radius 4G Series can be used for regular stereo listening or as part of a home theater setup shown here with rear speakers.

MONITOR AUDIO

New Crossover Design

The crossover networks in the Radius Series 4G have undergone extensive measurement, careful listening and careful component selection. The company says every element was chosen to ensure it delivers the purest possible signal transfer between amplification and drive units.

By using Bolt Driver Bracing, Monitor Audio states that the Radius 4G drivers can be securely braced to the rear of the cabinet and then tightened to a specific torque, ensuring structural rigidity between the driver and the cabinet, thereby eliminating any unwanted chassis resonances.

Each Radius 4G speaker features a High-Velocity II port design. This supports smoother airflow, and its designers aim for it to deliver a tighter and more controlled bass performance. On the all-new Radius 3 model, the port has been increased by 50% compared to the previous generation for greater levels of low-frequency performance despite the compact size.

Monitor Audio has a precision-engineered desk pad, made from rubber of a specific hardness, to give effective vibration isolation when using the Radius 3 speakers as near-field recording monitors.

Speaker Accessories

The new custom Radius 4G floor stand features wooden tripod legs to give the speakers a modern twist. The stand also provides clean cable routing from the terminals down through the stand to the base.

A precision-engineered desk pad, made from rubber of a specific hardness, has been produced to give effective vibration isolation. The desk pad provides a stable platform with a subtle upward tilt, ideal for using the new speakers as near-field recording monitors on a desktop.
