Modern LED flashlights can be incredibly powerful and show how far the technology has come in recent years.

WUBEN

Remember the old days when owning a flashlight meant something like a large metal Maglite or a rubber-clad device, the kind of flashlight that police officers always seem to carry with them?

As well-made as those old flashlights were, when you needed to use them, there was a good chance their massive zinc-carbon batteries would have leaked everywhere and the flashlight might not even turn on. Even when they did work properly, those chunky old batteries might only last a couple of hours and there was a good chance you might need to carry a spare bulb.

Fortunately, we’ve come a long way since those old days of analog flashlights. It was the invention of the white light-emitting diode that changed everything. Drawing less power than conventional bulbs and producing far more light than regular tungsten bulbs, this new technology paved the way for even more innovation, so we can now carry powerful and reliable light sources wherever we are.

The Wuben X1 Pro is a pocket-size flashlight with a rugged build, variable beam setting and power levels.

Innovating The Flashlight

Flashlight innovation is proceeding at pace and one of the latest models incorporating new technology is the Wuben X1Pro which just launched. This latest generation of Wuben’s X1 series of flashlights is the result of a three-year engineering and design process that’s focused on making flashlights perform better while offering improved durability and the ability to be used for more applications.

The Wuben X1 Pro has the same recognizable rectangular design of Wuben’s X1 series of flashlights but now has some structural and optical refinements to enhance beam control, power management and compatibility with accessories used for outdoor, utility and mobility applications. The X1 Pro can illuminate objects at up to 410 meters.

At the heart of the Wuben X1Pro is a redesigned reflector system that has spotlight and floodlight illumination modes. This enables users to switch between a beam-focused and longer-range visibility or a broader area of illumination with a rating of 12,300 lumens. This makes the X1 Pro suitable for applications such as outdoor navigation, equipment maintenance, or trekking.

The Wuben X1 Pro is powered by two rechargeable li-ion batteries and can be used as a power bank for recharging other gadgets.

Dual Lithium-Ion Batteries

Powering the new X1 Pro are two rechargeable Li-ion batteries with a combined power rating of 9,600mAh, which slot inside the X1 Pro’s aluminum case. The batteries were chosen for their extended runtime and stable power delivery. One of the most important aspects of flashlight design is reliability, so when you need it, it will work. That’s the advantage of lithium batteries over alkaline or zinc-carbon.

The X1 Pro has an integrated USB-C charging port that can also function as a power bank that can be used to recharge or power a smartphone should you happen to be stranded in the wilderness. When fully charged, the batteries can recharge an iPhone 17 Pro twice. There’s even a built-in fan that kicks in to keep the X1 Pro cool when drawing more power.

Depending on the brightness level selected, the batteries can power the X1 Pro from just over an hour at the very highest of four output settings, to more than 200 hours when used in eco mode.

Compact Design

The X1Pro measures 138mm by 60mm, which makes it suitable for pocket stowage. With a weight of 383g including batteries, it feels quite solid. There is a side control interface and a beam-selector mechanism that can be quickly used to switch operation mode.

To support different carrying and mounting needs, the X1 Pro comes with a braided USB-C lanyard and a quick-release mechanism. There’s also a reinforced nylon holster and a bicycle handlebar mount so the flashlight can be used as a cycle headlight if necessary.

Pricing and Availability:

The Wuben X1Pro flashlight is now available through the company’s official website or via Amazon in black and white, priced at $139.99.
