The Delhi Assembly election is set for February 5, 2025, with results expected on February 8. For the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), this election is crucial as it seeks a third consecutive term amid mounting challenges. Since 2020, the political landscape has shifted markedly—AAP’s once-comfortable majority faces questions over governance, while BJP aims to capitalise on the party’s declining popularity.

Campaign strategies are taking shape. AAP is highlighting its welfare schemes and grassroots support, while BJP campaigns vigorously with Prime Minister Modi as its figurehead, focusing on local civic issues and service delivery.

Women voters, comprising 45 per cent of the electorate at 71 lakh, are a key demographic. All major parties are courting them with targeted schemes—from AAP’s free travel initiative to BJP’s Mahila Samridhi Yojana financial assistance program. Congress too is vying for relevance with similar women-focused proposals.

Frontline presents interviews with key figures including Arvind Kejriwal, Jasmine Shah, and Baijayant Panda, alongside an analysis of AAP’s electoral strategy, electoral roll issues, and challenges facing trans, immigrant, and Dalit voters. As Delhi prepares for this pivotal election, its outcome could reshape the capital’s political future.
