The Hindu Munnani has urged the Tamil Nadu Government to crush mercilessly drug-induced crimes against women and children and smuggling and peddling of narcotic substances, which are ruining the younger generation.

One of the resolutions passed in the Hindu Munnani’s State general council met here on Sunday said heinous crimes against women and the children, all orchestrated by the drug addicts and alcoholics, have categorically portrayed that narcotic substances are freely available across the State of Tamil Nadu.

Since these heinous crimes that started happening in Tamil Nadu during the previous DMK regime, are continuing even after the new government has come to power, the State Government should crush without mercy these crimes by eradicating smuggling and peddling of narcotic substances. Perpetrators of these crimes should be brought to justice at the earliest by expediting the trial against them in the court, the resolution said.

While appealing to the Tamil Nadu Government to protect the temples, idols and the temple properties, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department should save the devotees coming to Tiruchendur Lord Subramaniya Swami Temple from being fleeced for having dharshan in the shrine. The government should take immediate steps to weed-out this menace completely.

The TVK government should honour the High Court’s verdict in the Thirupparankundram ‘deepa thoon’ issue and light the lamp on the pillar during the Karthigai celebrations this year, another resolution said.

The shops built along Swami Nellaiyappar Temple’s walls along the south and north ‘maada veethi’ should be removed as these commercial establishments are damaging the walls of the shrine. The affected trader should be allotted shops by the Tirunelveli Corporation in other areas.

The Hindu Munnani criticised the Department of Education for banning the ‘sacred threads’ being worn the students on their hands by portraying these threads as ‘caste bands’.

The meeting said the uniform civil code should be be enacted in Tamil Nadu.

State president of Hindu Munnani Kadeswara Subramanian, vice-president V.P. Jayakumar and HM office-bearers addressed the gathering. The general council passed unanimously the resolutions, which were read by State secretary of Hindu Munnani Kutralanathan.
