Two arrested on charge of robbery
2026-05-28 · via The Hindu: Latest News today from India and the World, Breaking news, Top Headlines and Trending News Videos.

The police have arrested two persons for allegedly robbing a mason and later uncovered their involvement in multiple two-wheeler theft and gas cylinder theft cases across the city.

The accused have been identified as Syed Touhid and Syed Afzal, both in their late 20s and residents of south Bengaluru.

According to the police, the complainant, a native of Raichur, had been staying in a shed at Nrupatunga Nagar near Puttenahalli in south Bengaluru, doing masonry. On March 28, while the complainant was asleep in the shed, an unidentified person allegedly entered the premises, threatened him with a machete, and robbed him of ₹5,000 cash before fleeing on a two-wheeler with an accomplice.

Based on the complaint, the Puttenahalli police registered a robbery case and launched an investigation. The police pursued multiple leads and arrested the two accused near Vinayakanagar Circle on May 20 along with the two-wheeler that was allegedly used in the crime.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed his involvement in two-wheeler and gas cylinder thefts reported in Madiwala, Jayanagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, and Puttenahalli Police Stations.

During further questioning, the accused revealed that the stolen two-wheelers had been handed over to an acquaintance residing in Pragathipura, Banashankari, while the stolen gas cylinders had been kept at another acquaintance’s house in Vinayakanagar in J.P. Nagar.

Based on the information provided by the accused, the police recovered four stolen two-wheelers and eight gas cylinders on May 22. The estimated value of the recovered property stood at ₹2.65 lakh.
