With 11 minor fires reported in Coimbatore Forest Division areas this year, the Forest Department has stepped up vigil and preventive measures.
District Forest Officer N. Vengatesh Prabhu said discussions were held with the Kerala counterparts for inter-State coordination as Madukkarai, Boluvampatti, Coimbatore, Periyanaickenpalayam and Karamadai ranges of Coimbatore division share forest boundaries with the neighbouring State.
