A 42-year-old man was arrested by Warasiguda police for allegedly practising medicine without valid qualifications and administering injections illegally at a medical shop in the area. The accused, Nannuta Madhav, 42, a resident of Warasiguda, and native of Bhupalpally, was apprehended during a decoy operation conducted by police at Madhava medical shop.
According to police, the accused had no recognised medical, clinical or pharmacy qualifications and had allegedly been running the illegal practice for the past year by misusing the drug licence of his associate, Kunta Archana.
Acting on specific information, police deployed a head constable in plain clothes to pose as a patient. When the accused allegedly attempted to administer an injection to the undercover officer, the police team raided the premises and caught him.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to administering scheduled injections, including Diclofenac and Tetanus Toxoid, without prescriptions from qualified doctors. Police seized injection vials and a smartphone allegedly used for business transactions. A criminal case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
Police cautioned people against seeking treatment from unqualified practitioners and urged people to approach only authorised registered medical practitioners and hospitals for medical care.
