Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directed officials of all concerned departments to take coordinated and proactive measures to ensure that people do not face hardships due to severe heat conditions expected to continue till June 15, as forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The Minister chaired a high-level review meeting with officials of 20 departments at the Secretariat on Friday to discuss preparedness measures against heat waves and summer-related emergencies. During the meeting, he formally released the Telangana State Heat Wave Action Plan-2026, jointly prepared by the Telangana State Disaster Management Department and the India Meteorological Department.

Mr. Ponguleti stressed that there should be no shortage of drinking water in either rural or urban areas during the next 45 days. He instructed officials to ensure that damaged motors and water supply equipment are repaired within 24 hours to avoid disruption in drinking water supply.

Highlighting the steps being taken in Hyderabad, the Minister said water was being supplied through around 15,000 tankers daily, with filling operations being carried out for nearly 14 hours a day to meet rising demand.

Officials were also instructed to submit reports within 15 days in cases of losses caused by natural calamities so that relief measures could be extended promptly.

Special attention was sought for districts likely to experience intense heat wave conditions, including Nalgonda, Mancherial, Suryapet, Peddapalli, Jagtial, Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar and Mahabubabad.

Arrangements for shelters, drinking water facilities, ORS packet distribution, buttermilk centres and cool wards in hospitals were also reviewed during the meeting.

The Minister further advised industries and establishments employing outdoor labourers to adopt rotational work schedules by dividing workers into two shifts and allowing mandatory rest periods during peak heat hours.
