District Collector K. Elambahavath, on Tuesday (May 19, 2026), inspected the drinking water supply at areas under the Kondalampatti zone in Salem Corporation.

Residents of Kondalampatti zone alleged that they are not receiving drinking water promptly and that they are receiving water once in ten days in many places. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Collector inspected the water supply from the overhead water tank at Dadagapatti.

The Collector said that development and cleanliness works implemented by the State government for the benefit of people were inspected. From the overhead water tank at Dadagapatti which has a capacity of 15 lakh litres, people residing in wards 54, 55, 59, and parts of 53, 58, and 60 are receiving drinking water.

Details of residences receiving drinking water at regular intervals were discussed with the Corporation officials. Likewise, drinking water supplied to Tiruvalluvar Nagar in Ward 58 was also inspected. He added that inspections were also conducted regarding proper chlorination of water.

While visiting Ward 59, the Collector instructed the public to segregate waste as biodegradable and non-biodegradable before handing it over to the conservancy workers.

He also inspected the micro-composting centre at Kari Market in Line Road (Ward 48). The garbage collected in 16 wards in the Kondalampatti zone is sent here and the manure, produced through biodegradable waste, is provided to the farmers.

During the inspection, Salem Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan and officials from departments concerned participated.
