Decrying the decision of the National Testing Agency to hold re-examination of NEET, educationalists in Karnataka said those behind the leak and those enabling the leak should be held accountable and punished.

Expert Group of Institutions Chairman Narendra Nayak said the decision on re-examination has caused lot of inconvenience to students. “More than 22 lakh students have attempted the test after preparing for this premier competitive exam for more than two years. Severe punishment should be imparted not just to those who leaked the questions, but also those who enabled the leak. The Union Government should fix accountability and take severe action for leak of NEET questions.”

Alvas Group of Institutions Chairman Mohan Alva said, “Unfortunately, NTA appears to have taken the question paper leak lightly. Students, their parents, and teachers, who have honestly prepared for the NEET, are highly disappointed with the decision of re-examination. For no fault, students have to write NEET again.”

Vijay Moras from The Learning Centre PU College, whose student Princilla Cardoza topped the PU 2 science stream with 599 marks, said, “A re-examination will be difficult, especially for those who have done well in the NEET held on May 3. We need to bring students back to the examination mindset. Students have to prepare for a changed pattern of questions in the re-examination.”
