A parent has petitioned the Chief Educational Officer (CEO) of Coimbatore alleging that a private school near SITRA imposed a penalty on him despite timely fee payment and subsequently asked him to collect Transfer Certificates (TCs) for his two children.

According to the complaint, the petitioner’s 14-year-old son, who completed Class IX and is set to enter Class X, and his nine-year-old daughter, who completed Class III and is moving to Class IV, are studying at a private school near SITRA in Coimbatore.

The parent stated that he had been paying an annual fee of around ₹4 lakh per child. He alleged that he paid the first-term fee of ₹1.58 lakh for both children on May 19, ahead of the reopening of the school. However, the school management reportedly collected an additional ₹9,500 as a penalty.

Seeking a refund of the penalty amount, the parent sent an email to the school management on May 23. He further alleged that he was invited to the school on May 27 to discuss the issue, but was initially denied entry. When he returned following instructions from the school, he was allegedly spoken to in an inappropriate manner by members of the school administration and asked to leave the premises.

The petitioner also alleged that on May 28, the school management sent an email directing him to collect Transfer Certificates for both the children.

Chief Educational Officer R. Balamurali said that the complaint would be examined and an inquiry would be conducted into the allegations.
