Teachers are change agents leading from the front in the government’s endeavour to transform the education system, Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Nara Lokesh has said.

Interacting with the 37 outstanding teachers drawn from government schools across the State, who recently went on a study tour to Singapore, at his Undavalli residence on Friday, Mr. Lokesh said those who work hard and deliver outstanding results will receive special recognition.

The teachers briefed him on the educational practices they observed during the visit and the possibilities of implementing them in Andhra Pradesh.

The HRD Minister said meaningful social transformation is possible only through education, adding that he had been studying the world’s best education models.

The Education Department will play a crucial role in achieving Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s Swarna Andhra vision, as implementation of advanced technologies such as quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI) can be achieved only through the education system, he said.

He urged the teachers who underwent training abroad to become the change-makers and replicate the practices they learned in Singapore at the school, cluster and mandal levels, and mentor fellow teachers.

The Minister said that bringing the desired transformation in the education system cannot happen overnight and pointed out that more than 1 lakh students had shifted from private schools to government schools this year, describing it as a positive development.

Teacher Transfer Act

He said that the government had enacted the Teacher Transfer Act, ensuring transparent transfers and promotions based on seniority, without any scope for influence or recommendations. He expressed confidence in the teachers’ abilities and urged them to showcase the A.P. Model of Education to the world.

He said the first step had already been taken and emphasised the need to focus on learning outcomes and analytical thinking. The Minister also urged teachers to focus on capacity-building through the Singapore study tour.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner, Department of School Education Thameem Ansaria; Director of A.P. State Council of Educational Research and Training (APSCERT) M. Venkata Krishna Reddy and others.
