In view of the intense summer heat, water bowls are being placed in various parts of Madurai district to help quench the thirst of stray dogs, cats, and birds.
This humanitarian initiative is being jointly organised by Lifeline Animal Welfare Society and Friends of Animals Organisation – Madurai District.
As the scorching summer temperature continues to rise, not only humans but also voiceless animals are suffering greatly. While people find different ways to protect themselves from the heat and stay hydrated, stray animals and birds often struggle without access to drinking water.
Considering their condition, water bowls have been installed in important locations across the district for the benefit of animals and birds. Arrangements have also been made to refill the bowls daily with clean drinking water.
Speaking about the initiative, Chief Executive Officer of Lifeline Animal Welfare Society Jerald, Coordinator of Friends of Animals Organisation Arul Kannan, and Madurai High Court Advocate Manoharan stated, “we are installing water bowls in several places with the support of volunteers to protect stray animals from the harsh summer heat. We request the public to come forward and place small water containers near their homes and roadsides to help quench the thirst of animals and birds. Stray animals are also living beings like us and should be treated with humanity and compassion.”
Animal welfare activists, volunteers and members of the public participated in this initiative held at the Mattuthavani bus stand on Saturday, a press release said.
