IMD forecasts below-normal South-West Monsoon
India’s 2026 South-West monsoon is forecast at 92 per cent of the long period average, classed as ‘below normal’, slightly lower than Skymet’s 94 per cent estimate, with concerns of weaker rainfall in the latter half due to El Niño.
This outlook is significant as the monsoon delivers 75 per cent of India’s annual rainfall and is vital for agriculture, especially with nearly half the cultivable land lacking irrigation.

NITES employee union demands audit of POSH compliance in TCS

Retail inflation rose to 3.4% in March
India’s retail inflation rose to a 13-month high of 3.4 per cent in March, up from 3.2 per cent in February, driven by higher LPG and vegetable prices amid West Asia tensions.
Analysts expect inflation to edge up in the near term but stabilise around 4 per cent, with the RBI likely to keep interest rates unchanged for now.
