The US-based insurance and financial services company The Standard has opened its Global Capability Centre (GCC) at Embassy Tech Village in Bengaluru, as it looks to expand capabilities across software engineering, artificial intelligence, and enterprise functions.

The company officially entered India in November 2025 with the launch of its GCC, StanCorp Global Services India Pvt Ltd, with operations in Bengaluru and Pune.

The move comes at a time when Bengaluru leads India’s GCC landscape, with over 875–900 centres, contributing more than 35 per cent of the total.

The Standard offers workplace benefits, including life and disability insurance (both short- and long-term), along with voluntary products such as accident and cancer insurance, and retirement plans.

The company is now looking to strengthen its local leadership teams across finance, human resources, talent acquisition, information technology, administration, and communications.

Greg Chandler, Executive Vice President of Information Technology, said the move is driven by access to talent and the ability to accelerate revenue growth and bring products to market faster. He added that the company is actively seeking AI talent and leadership, with hiring expected across actuarial science, investments, and underwriting roles. “We will likely engage with the startup ecosystem here, particularly in FinTech and InsurTech,” he said. The company did not disclose hiring numbers or total investment.

The facility was inaugurated by Priyank Kharge, Minister for Electronics, IT & Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka.

Commenting on the expansion, Mohua Sengupta, Senior Vice President and Country Head, said, “We see our centres in Pune and Bengaluru not as outposts or delivery hubs, but as force multipliers.”

Kharge added that Karnataka continues to see strong GCC investment momentum, with global enterprises increasingly choosing the state for high-value functions in AI, engineering, and digital transformation.
