Advantech EdgeView adds low-code SCADA visualization

New Products |

By Alina Neacsu

Advantech has launched EdgeView, a low-code industrial visualization platform for system integrators working on monitoring upgrades. The platform is designed to sit above existing SCADA systems, production databases and IoT platforms, rather than replacing installed infrastructure.

For eeNews Europe readers, the development is relevant because many industrial projects still depend on legacy control systems while requiring modern dashboards, mobile access and faster deployment cycles. EdgeView could help integrators deliver these updates with less custom engineering work.

Visualization without replacing control systems

EdgeView acts as a visualization layer for industrial sites where data is spread across multiple systems. SCADA may manage shop-floor control, databases may store production history, and IoT platforms may collect edge data. Bringing these sources together often requires custom connectors or middleware.

Advantech says EdgeView works with its EdgeHub, WebAccess SCADA and EdgeLink products. It also supports OPC UA, major databases and REST APIs, allowing engineers to connect a range of industrial data sources while keeping control logic, tags and communication architecture intact.

The platform supports deployment on Windows and Linux desktop clients, web browsers and mobile devices. This gives operators, managers and field engineers access to real-time dashboards from different environments without duplicating development work.

Low-code tools for system integrators

EdgeView includes a low-code design environment with built-in industrial components and live data preview. Engineers can build and test monitoring screens while viewing design changes in real time, without disrupting connected devices.

Advantech positions the platform for system integrators that need to modernize HMI and monitoring interfaces under tight project schedules. According to the company, typical deployments can go live in as little as two weeks, potentially reducing the time needed for custom visualization work.

The EdgeView App add-on extends dashboards and alarm push notifications to iOS and Android devices. This could support maintenance teams and managers who need to monitor equipment status away from fixed workstations.
