I remember seeing “The Naked Civil Servant” as a teenager when it first aired on NY channel 9 WOR. The commercial alone seemed shocking at the time and the movie itself was so unlike anything we had seen. It was sad and hilarious. And unforgettable.↳ HesperusWrecked @1:58
Hello, HesperusWrecked! I adored that TV movie too.As an aside, the reporter in that bit sounded just like the announcer on Music Depreciation, Ruben Gaines. I've featured episodes of that show on The Wiggle Room and on this show.

Hello 👋 ALL. been listening intently. Indeed, seeing ‘the naked civil servant’ (via PBS ch 13 wnet) as a teenager was a learning moment. also cemented my utter appreciation of the career of John Hurt! (seeing his stunning perfs in Alien, Elephant Man & tNCS, etc) & still exploring & discovering (‘the shout’ 1978 🤯). the man left a legacy of ripping good performances for all of us to marvel at & experience!↳ Krys O. @2:32
Indeed, was quite fascinated by watching “I Claudius” on pbs as a youth as well. Mentioning Robert Graves, wiki relates: ‘The Shout’ is a 1978 British horror film directed by Jerzy Skolimowski, starring Alan Bates, Susannah York, and John Hurt. It was based on a short story by Robert Graves and adapted for the screen by Skolimowski and Michael Austin. Have you seen this one yet? It has a really fun aspect for music studio geeks - as Hurt portrays some sort of an avant garde sound studio recoding engineer. Fascinating stuff. 👏🥳👏↳ Erik dwells VT @2:41
I knew of it, but never had the opportunity to see it. I definitely recall coming across it when I worked in video stores and at distributors. 2:45pm↳ Erik dwells VT @2:41
‘The Shout’ is only rarely shown via TCM (usually in a wee hours broadcast slot). 2:48pm↳ Song: "Ceci n'est pas un Chat pt. 2 This isn't either" b...

I recently gave up cable TV to save money. I jones for my precious TCM, however, I get by with Tubi, Max, etc.↳ Erik dwells VT @2:48
Always a pleasure. 2:52pm↳ Krys O. @2:48
Yea, I get that. TCM is what keeps me tethered! Appreciate the 5 Hosts, & the specials they are doing more than ever now, etc. i know of some folks that jumped off TCM addiction & fulfilled it by subscribing only to The Criterion Channel streaming (which seems to satisfy many of the similar needs) 🤷♂️↳ Erik dwells VT @2:52
I've toyed with that option. Max and Prime have lots of Criterion titles. I miss Alicia, Jacqueline, Eddie, and Dave.↳ Mr Moistache @2:55
Thanks kindly! 2:57pm↳ Erik dwells VT @2:52
Agree with all your above comments. I also bemoan what has become of IFC and Sundance channel. Both used to have ‘arty’ movies and imports and even cool horror films. Now it's Law & Order reruns and nothing really of interest. A real loss. 3:04pm↳ HesperusWrecked @2:59
Indeed! don’t recall which awful company took-over both Sundance & IFC (simultaneously?!) utterly destroyed their creative programming (must be well over 15 years by now). I was very surprised Robert Redford allowed that to happen … 🤷♂️ 4:41pm此内容由惯性聚合(RSS阅读器)自动聚合整理,仅供阅读参考。 原文来自 — 版权归原作者所有。
