












The music streaming industry had another strong year of revenue growth, off the back of most streaming services increasing prices and close to 100 million new subscribers being added to the mix. Total revenues reached $63 billion, an increase of 18.2 percent on the previous year.
That’s according to the latest edition of the Music App Report, which shows the three major streaming services in the West – Spotify, YouTube Music and Apple Music – all generating double digit revenue growth in 2025. We project that this industry will reach close to $100 billion revenue by the end of the decade.
Not only have these apps brought in more subscribers, but these subscribers seem to be willing to pay higher prices for additional features such as podcasts, audiobooks and video content. Alongside this additional audio and visual content, music streaming apps have also been integrating AI into more processes. Playlists are generated by AI, there’s AI DJs and more audiobooks are being uploaded with AI generated voice actors.

The total number of music streaming subscriptions reached 856 million in 2025, an increase of 86 million on the year prior. This is even with installs of music streaming apps dropping for the third consecutive year in a row, and over 150 million short of the 2019 peak.
In most countries, Spotify has a lead on rivals in total market share. There are a few variations on the second to fifth places. In the United States, Apple Music has more share than average. In France, Deezer remains the second favourite. In Germany, Amazon Music and SoundCloud have higher than global average market share.
