Is it possible that there is a problem with the cachy V3 kernels?

I can reinstall cachy v3 Kernel, but none of them work. During boot, it tries to load various kernel modules without success. I can install the core/linux kernel without any problems. All the other v3 kernel crash.

I’m curious about…

Filename(s)? Version(s)? Repositories?

I’m peeking at the listings in both octopi and cachyos-kernel-manager (from within CachyOS Linux, not from within another Arch Linux) and although I see kernels, I don’t know which one you mean by “V3”?

It seems like maybe a few people are installing the Release Candidate (which is NOT YET the “stable” version). I can see the release candidates listed (“rc”). I also see other specific types of kernels to match specific hardwares.

Perhaps you installed the wrong specific kernel or you are getting bit by a release candidate that’s just a bit too early?

Currently, if you do want to install the release candidate, as of today, all I’m seeing is:

Name: linux-cachyos-rc

Version: 7.0.rc5-2

Repository: cachyos

Build date: 3/27/2026

Category: Release Candidate

Therefore, for some users, I think the best thing to do is to WAIT until there is a new stable release marked as “stable” in both cachyos-kernel-manager and octopi.

Similarly, I find this using “pacman -Ss linux kernel”: (scroll down to linux)

It’s amongst other things:

• cachyos/linux-cachyos-rc 7.0.rc5-2
  The Linux BORE + LTO + AutoFDO + Propeller + Cachy Sauce Kernel by CachyOS with other patches and improvements - Release Candidate
  kernel and modules.

Again, since it’s marked as “release candidate” and not as “stable” or “LTS” (long-term supported), I wouldn’t install it yet. Instead, find another next best high version number or just keep what you have and keep doing system updates.

I think most kernels are at versions hovering around 6.19.10-1 or similar.

However, I could be wrong.
I vaguely remember reading that different CachyOS users get served different things depending upon their hardware. My computer hardware isn’t cutting edge new and is actually kind of weak compared to modern systems, but it gets me by without errors and is still faster than Microsoft Windows systems

P.S.-UPDATE: Sorry, I just noticed that my own system is only “x86-64-v2” and not “v3” nor “v4” like you are probably talking about. That’s why I get different listings than you, I think. Sorry about that.

Mine did the same thing, I rolled back and am here now. Unfortunatley, gonna wait.

There was also a 1 min 47 second timer that I had to wait out. Thank goodness for rollbacks. I’ll try again tomorrow

I tested several CachyV3 versions from the kernel manager; they all crashed.

The Cachy Core versions from the kernel manager work. I’m currently using core/linux 6.19.12.arch
