EXCLUSIVE: Courtney A. Kemp has signed a new, multi-year overall deal with Apple TV. Kemp is the storyteller behind the “Power” Universe, as well as the recently premiered crime drama Nemesis. Under the new deal, Kemp and her production company, End of Episode, will develop and create series exclusively for Apple TV, and Apple TV will have a first-look on film projects.
Kemp is an Emmy-nominated creator, showrunner, writer, and producer who has built her career telling high-stakes stories that are bold and character-driven. Her series Nemesis is currently the No. 1 series in the US and 15 other countries on Netflix, and Power: Origins, a continuation of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, both of which stem from the “Power” franchise she created, is currently shooting in New York.
Power, the series, marked Kemp’s debut as a creator and showrunner and followed the complex character James “Ghost” St. Patrick and his empire. In addition to Power: Origins and Power Book III: Raising Kanan, other spinoffs under the Universe include Power Book II: Ghost, and Power Book IV: Force, all produced by her End of Episode.
In 2021, Kemp and End of Episode, her production company, entered into a multi-year overall deal with Netflix, enabling the company to expand its creative footprint to create stories about and from women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ voices. Under this deal, Kemp co-created and showran the critically acclaimed crime drama series Nemesis, which recently premiered at No. 3 on Netflix and made the Top 10 list in 71 different countries with 7.1M views.
Apple TV notes that Kemp will continue to use her platform to champion and create opportunities for greater inclusion within the industry and grow as a household name.
Kemp is repped by CAA, and Gendler Kelly & Cunningham.
