This documentary starts out as a meditation on the Channel 4 newsreader’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis – but the journalist in him hasn’t departed quite yet. While Jon and his wife Precious are on holiday in Victoria Falls, he stumbles upon a mining disaster that has had almost no coverage in the media. His determination to get the tragedy into the news is stirring and very moving. Phil Harrison

A big-hearted three-parter about Indigenous Australian champion tennis player Evonne Goolagong (Lila McGuire). As she makes her Wimbledon debut in 1970, her story flashes back to when she was a child (played by Eloise Hart) in 50s New South Wales. The gruelling getaway gets even worse as it’s the “hottest day ever” and the gang don’t have any running water. But that’s the least of their problems. Jon has a serious head injury after Solomon knocked him over, Jess notices some missing cash, and Zoe continues to completely implode her life. HR

Tina Turner: Wildest Dreams Live in Amsterdam 1996

Better than all the rest: this concert film captures Turner midway through her biggest ever world tour and she is in typically strident form. Highlights include the slinky Bond theme GoldenEye, performed in front of a gigantic golden eye, and a honky-tonk version of I Can’t Stand the Rain. Graeme Virtue

The Glaswegian festival continues and there’s a distinct overtone of lad rock with sets from the Fratellis and Kasabian. Relief comes in the artful, theatrical shape of the Last Dinner Party and from Aussie house DJ and Calvin Harris collaborator Sonny Fodera. PH
