Venezuela earthquake

1. Powerful twin earthquakes have killed at least 32 people and injured more than 700 in Venezuela, the country’s interim president said, as rescue workers searched through collapsed buildings in Caracas and other hard-hit areas.

Hot spell

2. Ireland could reach its highest-ever temperature ever today as a spell of hot and humid weather peaks across the country, but thunderstorms are likely on the way too.

Savings scheme

3. Ireland’s biggest landlord, Ires Reit, is lobbying to be part of the new government-backed savings and investment scheme promised by Minister for Finance Simon Harris.

Scam calls

4. More than 26 million suspected scam calls were blocked by Three Ireland last year.
