They swiped right on Tinder and were wed four years to the day of their first date.

Niamh Brennan and Eoin English first set eyes on one another in person on May 8, 2022.

“We met at Heuston Station and got the train to Limerick to watch Limerick V Tipperary in the Munster hurling championship,” says Niamh.

“We spent 14 hours together.” It was time well spent and set the wheels in motion for many more trips together. They’d reached New Zealand when Eoin proposed to Niamh, on Whanganui Beach, on August 24, 2024. “We were travelling around the North and South Islands in a campervan at the time, for three weeks, as part of a six-month trip around the world, after living in Vietnam,” says Niamh.

Niamh Callery, of Anu Celebrancy, officiated as Niamh, from Firhouse, Dublin, and Eoin, from Kilmallock, Co Limerick, exchanged vows at Ashley Park House, Nenagh, Co Tipperary. “We were married in the boathouse, overlooking the lake,” says Niamh. “My mam, Anne Brennan, walked me up the aisle.”

Also by the couple’s side were the groom’s parents, Majella Neligan and Stephen English, and his grandparents, Nora and Tommy Neligan. “We remembered my dad, the late Patrick Brennan, on the day,” says Niamh.

The HoneyVoom Duo provided music, and Eoin’s aunt, Maighread Neligan, performed Christy Moore’s The Voyage. “Every single one of our friends and family brought the best energy,” says Niamh.

Describing the big day as “blissful”, she adds: “We had a lot of friends and family travel, including Eoin’s brother, Liam, and my sister, Ciara, who are both living in Sydney. There was uncertainty before the wedding as to whether they would make it, with everything going on in Dubai, but they did, and it was so special to have them there.”

The bride chose her friend of two decades, Orla Carrigan, as her maid of honour, and her friends, Josipa Katovic and Maggie MacBean, as well as her sisters, Claire and Ciara Brennan, as her bridesmaids.

Eoin’s friend Cian Sheehan was his best man, and his brothers, Liam and Tomás English, and friends Chad Conroy and John Pa Corbett, were his groomsmen.

Niamh found her dream wedding dress, a Jane Hill design, in The White & Gold bridal shop in Howth.

Eoin had his suit made in Abraham’s Tailoring, Dublin 2. Neill Ryan was the hairstylist, with Jade Kirwan the make-up artist.

The couple ensured their décor had a personal touch, thanks in part to Meadow Bunch Florist. “We had a personalised, handwritten letter to each guest on the table as a placename,” adds Niamh.

Shane O’Neill, Aspect Photography ( Aspectphotography.net), captured the occasion on camera, as did videographer Best Day Productions. Wedding band Arthur hit all the right notes.

“We chose Gerry Rafferty’s Right Down the Line for our first dance,” says the bride. The newlyweds chose Croatia as their honeymoon destination. Niamh, who manages a team of mortgage advisers at AIB, and Eoin, a primary school teacher, plan to move to Cork.
