Child welfare authorities in the Irkutsk region removed five children from their mother’s care after she filmed herself performing oral sex on her six-year-old son while her adult boyfriend also participated, journalist Ksenia Sobchak and the independent news outlet People of Baikal reported.

The woman, a 46-year-old resident of the village of Nizhnyaya Sloboda whose name has not been disclosed, has three daughters and two sons; the youngest has a disability. An online acquaintance of the woman received the video from an unknown sender a week ago, Sobchak reported; it showed the abuse of the youngest child.

Novosibirsk human rights activist Anna Tazheeva told People of Baikal that a subscriber had sent her three such videos. In them, she said, adults were abusing not only the 6-year-old but also his older 10-year-old brother.

According to Tazheeva, the children’s mother lives with her boyfriend, while the children’s father does not live in the home. Sobchak wrote that the home is the site of “regular alcohol binges” and that the family lives on child welfare payments and the boyfriend’s money. The mother had previously been stripped of parental rights over two older children, People of Baikal reported, citing Tazheeva.

The house in Nizhnyaya Sloboda was cordoned off, and the children were taken away. Russia’s Investigative Committee and the Irkutsk region police have opened a criminal investigation.
