Investigations into the incident are ongoing, but the school warns that IT systems are expected to be offline for some time.
A cyber security incident has taken the IT systems of a South Australian school offline for at least several days, a letter from the state’s Department of Education has warned.
The letter, circulated to parents and carers on 9 June and seen by Cyber Daily, said it was unlikely systems would be restored this week.

“Dear Reynella East College parents and carers, there has been a cyber security breach impacting all of our school’s computer systems,” the letter, co-signed by the school’s principal and chief information officer, said.
“The Department for Education is working closely with our school and specialist teams to understand what has happened and restore systems as quickly as possible.
“It is unlikely our school’s ICT systems will be back online this week.”
According to the letter, classes are continuing, and the school said it was aware parents and carers may be concerned by the incident and its possible impact on student data.
“At this point, investigations are ongoing, and we will provide further advice if there are any impacts to personal information,” the letter said.
As of the time of writing, no threat actor has claimed responsibility for the incident. Cyber Daily has contacted Reynella East College for further comment.
Reynella East College is in the southern suburbs of Adelaide and teaches children from pre-school to Year 12, and currently has more than 1,900 students enrolled.
The school also offers international and study abroad programs.
