GravityZone Achieves Top Results in AV-Comparatives Testing
Richard De La Torre · 2026-07-31 · via Business Insights Cybersecurity Blog by Bitdefender

Over the past seven AV-Comparatives Real-World Protection Tests, Bitdefender is the only vendor to consistently stay at or above a 99.8% protection rate. And in the 2026 testing, Bitdefender GravityZone once again allowed the fewest compromised systems while maintaining among the lowest false-positive counts. Bitdefender GravityZone continues to show consistent and superior efficacy among its peers in the latest real-world AV-Comparative Business Security Test.

The Competitive Field

Sixteen vendors were pitted against 400 test cases that mimic modern real-world attacks in the AV-Comparatives Real World Protection test. These rigorous evaluations span the entire life cycle of an attack, from initial compromise to ransomware detonation. Bitdefender GravityZone emerged among the top performers blocking 399 attacks while maintaining the second lowest false-positive count. These results continue a pattern of consistent top performance other vendors struggle to match.

The Test Procedure

AV-Comparatives selects malware samples that match real-world attacks happening today. Several samples are first tested on clean Windows 11 64-bit systems without security software enabled. Only a few of the attacks that meet strict criteria are chosen.

Each vendor’s security product is then installed on a separate test system that is patched and updated daily. The security products are configured according to each vendor’s unique specifications to ensure the solution is used as the vendor intended. After each attack simulation, each machine is restored to its clean state to ensure that any residual effects from a previous attack do not affect the outcome of the next simulation.

Each attack sample begins with a malicious URL, and the evaluation of the security solutions starts with the solution’s capacity to prevent access to the malicious URL in the first place. From there, the tests evaluate the success of a malicious file download, a vulnerability’s exploitation, malware execution, and system compromise. AV-Comparatives records every step in the attack to determine where the security solution first acted, and how well it prevented system compromise.

According to AV-Comparatives, to be awarded the coveted “AV-Comparatives Approved” business product award, the product must:

  • Score at least 90% in the Malware Protection Test, with zero false alarms on common business software

  • Have a false positive rate on non-business files below the Remarkably High threshold.

  • Score at least 90% in the overall Real-World Protection Test over the course of four months

  • Operate with less than fifty false alarms on any clean software/websites, and zero false alarms on common business software.

The 400 test cases were conducted between the months of March and June 2026 and the results reflect a consistent story of uncompromised protection with minimal disruption by Bitdefender GravityZone.

Breaking Down the Results

Real-World Protection Test

Here is how AV-Comparatives describes the Real-World Protection Tests: "They mimic online malware attacks that a typical business user might encounter when surfing the internet."

The results of these tests demonstrate that by combining maximum protection rates with low operational friction and exceptionally low false positive counts, Bitdefender GravityZone provides security teams with a high-efficacy, low-noise defense platform.

The results of the Real-World Protection test saw GravityZone lead with the highest protection rate among all vendors at 99.8%, resulting in only one compromised system. It also achieved the second-lowest false-positive count, at only 4, across all 400 scenarios. AV-Comparatives includes both wrongly blocked domains and files in their evaluations. This translates into GravityZone delivering the highest protection among its peers while minimizing operational disruption and alert-fatigue.

Malware Protection Test

AV-Comparatives describes this test as “a scenario in which the malware pre-exists on the disk or enters the test system via e.g. the local area network or removable device, rather than directly from the internet.” Bitdefender GravityZone performed admirably in this test by providing 99.5% protection rate without any false-positives.

For the Malware Protection test, AV-Comparatives included both common business software and uncommon or non-business software as well as uncommon files. This is important to consider, as many organizations run custom code in their environments, which is often flagged as potentially malicious by security solutions.

AV-Comparatives summed up the importance of this challenge: “Organizations which often use uncommon or non-business software, or their own self-developed software, might like to consider these results." Security shouldn’t interrupt business operations, and GravityZone demonstrated it provides optimal protection without disruption.

Consistent Top Performance

These 2026 AV-Comparatives results represent a story of a vendor that consistently performs well. Year over year, independent evaluations confirm that Bitdefender has engineered a rare equilibrium, achieving uncompromising threat efficacy alongside operational silence. By repeatedly mastering the rigorous demands of real-world testing—neutralizing complex zero-day exploits while maintaining industry-low false positive rates—Bitdefender GravityZone proves that organizations no longer need to accept a compromise between aggressive defense and business continuity.

This unbroken record of top-tier performance underscores a foundational architectural advantage, cementing Bitdefender GravityZone as the definitive standard for security teams demanding precise, frictionless resilience.
