I was biking back from the Lost and Found (to where, happily, my helmet had been rescued), thinking to myself, when I came up with this description:

To be in love is to have an infinitely deep and close relationship with someone,
to form a couple that fits together better than it stands apart.

It should never imply exclusiveness or possession.
It should always imply the deepest trust and partnership—
with a healthy dose of adoration thrown in.

I am still learning the lessons I encrypted into a story I sketched out years ago...

Making love is said to be the joining of bodies. Being in love is wanting to join the minds.
