A new Charger performance variant lands at Roadkill Nights with over 550 hp, but Hellcat loyalists may want to look away
22 minutes ago

We knew Dodge was cooking up something special for Roadkill Nights but, unfortunately, it’s not a V8-powered Charger SRT Hellcat. However, it is a new performance variant.
While the brand is keeping details under wraps, they confirmed plans to “unveil the most powerful Sixpack-powered Charger yet.” This means the mystery model will have a twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six instead of a supercharged 6.2-liter V8.

That will likely disappoint fans who have been eagerly awaiting the return of Hemi power, but the upcoming model will eclipse the Charger Scat Pack. It has 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS) and 531 lb-ft (719 Nm) of torque, which enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and run the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds.
Dodge has previously said there would be “new product announcements” at the August event, so it’s possible the automaker has more up their sleeve.
Charger 60th Anniversary Tour
Besides teasing a new performance variant, Dodge is celebrating the Charger’s 60th anniversary with a summer tour. It kicks off today at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals and will continue on July 12 at the Route 66 Centennial Parade in Santa Monica.
All eight-generations of the Charger will then make an appearance at the Petersen Automotive Museum’s All-American Cruise-In on July 26, before attention turns to Michigan. Roadkill Nights takes place on August 8 and will be followed by the Woodward Dream Cruise on August 15. The tour will then wrap up at the Dodge NHRA Great Lakes Nationals Presented by Mopar in mid-September.
Dodge CEO Matt McAlear said, “From its debut in 1966, Dodge Charger has stood as a symbol of bold design, unapologetic performance, and unmistakable American attitude. As we mark 60 years, we’re bringing that legacy to life nationwide and connecting generations of enthusiasts.”
