Urban Automotive marks ten years at Goodwood with a radical Defender pickup conversion alongside a wild styling program for the Octa
25 minutes ago

The Land Rover Defender just got a facelift, but a pickup still isn’t among the body styles on offer. Urban Automotive has filled that gap with a two-door truck conversion of the SUV under the name Widetrack Avontur.
The build made its first appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, timed to mark the tuner’s tenth anniversary. Underneath the reworked body sits a Defender 110 Hard Top commercial vehicle.

The rear part of the roof has been removed, with carbon trim and a matching spoiler applied to the cutouts. The tuner also deleted the rear doors, adding body-colored fender extensions, 23-inch alloy wheels, a sharper splitter, and a custom hood. The real highlight, though, is the exposed carbon bed, which comes with a modular utility rail system, a bottle holder, and a working tailgate.

To preserve the rigidity of the donor vehicle, the company added bespoke structural reinforcements, including a rollover framework. All told, the conversion involves more than 36 custom components. Buyers can pick from different carbon fiber finishes in either gloss or matte.
The Widetrack Avontur follows the lead of the longer coachbuilt Defender 130 pickup from sister brand Heritage Customs, a firm equally known for its convertible builds.

Beyond the pickup, Urban Automotive used Goodwood to launch its styling program for the Defender Octa. The flagship Defender gains a bulged hood, aero add-ons and special garnish for the front bumper, wide fender extensions, a rear spoiler, a custom spare wheel cover, and carbon exhaust surrounds.

The new parts wear a forged carbon fiber pattern reminiscent of Mansory builds. On the prototype, the bodykit pairs with gold 23-inch Vossen forged alloy wheels, plus matching exterior accents that contrast with the blue bodywork.
Urban Automotive has opened expressions of interest for the Avontur pickup and immediate orders for the Octa program. Neither project has an official price yet, but you can rest assured they won’t come cheap.
