Get on your feet with 9 Works’ On Your Feet!

THEATER GROUP 9 Works Theatrical is staging On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan this July at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati. Alternating in the role of Gloria Estefan are Molly Langley and Kayla Rivera, while Jason Canela will be playing the role of Emilio Estefan. The musical chronicles the Estefans’ journey from their humble beginnings in Cuba and Miami to international superstardom, overcoming career hurdles and a life-threatening tragedy along the way. Also in the cast are Ayen Laurel, Pinky Marquez, and John Joven Uy among others. Directed by Robbie Guevara, it features music produced and recorded by Emilio & Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine. On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan will run on weekends from July 10 to Aug. 2, 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, at the Proscenium Theater, Rockwell Center in Makati City. Find out what happened After Oz

THIS YEAR, the Samsung Performing Arts Theater’s annual anniversary celebration is After Oz, a one-night-only concert featuring Broadway artists Lissa De Guzman and Allie Trimm. The event’s full title is After Oz with Wicked on Broadway’s Lissa De Guzman and Allie Trimm, and explores what happens after the role, after the spotlight, and after the curtain falls. The program brings together Broadway favorites, original compositions, and reimagined pop anthems. The concert also features Farley Asuncion & the After Oz Orchestra, the UST Singers, Morissette, and Mari Dance. De Guzman played Elphaba in the US National Tour of Wicked. Ms. Trimm played the role of Glinda on Broadway from 2025 to 2026. The concert marks the Samsung Performing Arts Theater’s fourth anniversary since opening in 2022. The concert will be held on July 10, 7:30 p.m., at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati. Tickets range in price from P1,500 to P3,800, and are available through TicketWorld.

THE 7th edition of the Philippine International Comics Festival (PICOF) is ongoing until July 12 at Ayala Malls The 30th in Pasig City, with Japan taking center stage as this year’s Country of Highlight. Among its featured programs is SINTA (Beloved): Queer Stories Across Asia, an international comics exhibition done in partnership with The Japan Foundation and BLushCon, showcasing works by queer comics creators from Japan and Southeast Asia. As part of the 2026 Japan-Philippines Friendship Year, the event will also offer masterclasses, artist talks, and panel discussions exploring manga, Boys’ Love (BL), and contemporary queer storytelling, while continuing PICOF’s mission of promoting Filipino komiks and fostering international creative exchange. Another major exhibit is the Philippine tribute to National Artist for Comics, Larry Alcala, which celebrates the centennial of his birth through his original works, Slices of a Komikero’s Life. A must-see would be the one hundred renditions of his icon by independent komiks creators, all displayed together on a wall. PICOF’s masterclass program will also bring industry professionals together, like Tori Tadiar, Cat Aquino, and Dominique Duran (Philippines), Masaomi Ito (Japan), Joshua Chieng (Singapore), and Kristina Turner (Australia), among many others.


Experience an intercultural collaboration

TANGHALANG PILIPINO presents Farewell, Let’s Go to the South, at the CCP Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (Black Box Theater), CCP Complex, Pasay City. This is an intercultural collaboration between Assignment Theater of Taiwan, Space Theater of Korea, and Tanghalang Pilipino. The work traces the final reflections of Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara and South Korean labor activist Jeon Tae-il as they bid farewell, told through movement, imagery, and a live cello. For the Philippine leg of this Asian tour, actors from Tanghalang Pilipino join the production, bringing to life the world of Filipino revolutionary poet Emmanuel “Eman” Lacaba through selections from his Salvaged Poems. Farewell, Let’s Go to the South will run on July 10 and 11, 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at P1,500 and P1,000.


Enter a ‘world of pure imagination’

ENTER a world of pure imagination — in other words, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory — a production filled with spectacle, illusion, and storytelling. The traveling musical production stars Daniel Plimpton as Willy Wonka and Cohen Toukatly as Charlie Bucket. Modeled on the Broadway version of 2017, the score includes select songs associated with the 2005 film starring Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory runs at The Theatre at Solaire in Manila from July 8 to 26.

Attend the OPM CON Generations concert

A LINEUP of some of the biggest names in Original Pilipino Music (OPM) is set to take the stage at OPM CON Generations 2026 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on July 11 at 5 p.m. The one-night concert will bring together artists from across genres and generations, featuring performances from SB19, Ben&Ben, Skusta Clee, Flow G, Alamat, G22, Sunkissed Lola, and Xonara. The event aims to celebrate the diversity and evolution of OPM, bringing together music fans for an evening of live performances spanning pop, hip-hop, folk, and P-pop.


Watch a parade of beauty queens

THE Binibining Pilipinas 2026 Grand Parade of Beauties will be held on Saturday, July 11, around Araneta City in Cubao, Quezon City. This is Binibining Pilipinas 2026 candidates’ last public appearance before the Grand Coronation Night on July 18. They will get up close with their fans and supporters atop Maxda MX-5 Miata cars as they parade around Araneta City. Meanwhile, the Binibining Pilipinas 2026 Photo Exhibit Glam Shot is ongoing at the Exhibit Hall, Level 4, Gateway Mall 2. The exhibit features photographs of the 35 official Binibining Pilipinas 2026 candidates.


Take a printmaking class at The M

THE Metropolitan Museum of Manila (The M) is holding a series of printmaking workshops every Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., until November. Open to beginners and experienced makers alike (ages 12 and above), these hands-on workshops introduce a range of printmaking techniques while encouraging participants to create original prints and experiment with color and editions. Led by printmakers Ambie Abaño, Henrielle Baltazar Pagkaliwangan, Jone Sibugan, and Anton Villaruel, registration for the series is still open. Meanwhile, “Foundations of Framing: Principles and Practice” will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2-3:30 p.m. This is a talk and live demonstration on the essentials of professional art framing. Learn how proper framing protects, preserves, and enhances artwork while gaining practical insights into framing materials, industry best practices, and what to look for when working with a custom framer. Meanwhile, there are a number of ongoing exhibits at the museum: Winna Go: Seams of Memory, is ongoing at Groundspace until July 12; Threads of Dreams runs until July 26 at the 2nd floor South Gallery; Power of Engagement can be viewed at the 3rd floor North Gallery; and Femme Hommage: Selected Works from the M Collection is on view at the 3rd floor South Gallery. The Metropolitan Museum of Manila is at the MK Tan Center, 30th St., BGC, Taguig. It is open from Tuesdays to Fridays at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. except on public holidays.

THE 2nd PTI-NCR Taekwondo Championship will take place on July 11, Saturday, at the Quantum Skyview, Upper Ground B, Gateway Mall 2 in Cubao, Quezon City. More than 200 entrants are expected to ignite the mats.


Attend a free Hoka running training program

HOKA is helping runners gear up for the upcoming HOKA Midnight Run Asia – Manila through “Fly Everyday,” a free training program offering expert coaching, structured workouts, and community support for registered participants. Held every Saturday until July 11 at Bayshore Ave., SM Mall of Asia Complex, the program features strength and conditioning sessions, endurance training, race-week preparation, and HOKA shoe trial opportunities tailored for runners in the 5K, 10K, and 21K categories. Led by HOKA Run Club Captain coach Dan Hilaria, the initiative aims to help participants build confidence and improve performance ahead of race day on July 19. Registered runners can join for free, while those unable to attend in person may access a curated training plan to support their preparation. Interested runners may register through the QR code available on HOKA’s official social media pages. Walk-ins will also be accepted.


Take an art class

ROMULO GALICANO will conduct the class “Decoding Mastery Through the Basics: Fundamentals of Painting” on July 11, 2 p.m., at the Gateway Gallery Studio, Level 5 of Gateway Tower. This is the last leg of Gateway Gallery’s Art in the City art sessions for the year. Through practical insights, analyses of works by renowned masters, and inspiring personal stories, Mr. Galicano will share the essential principles, discipline, and mindset that have shaped his journey as one of the country’s respected artists.


Make some halo-halo (art that is)

SISID is set to stage HALO-HALO: Art-making Festival, a one-day event bringing together contemporary theater and performance projects from independent artists. It takes place on July 11, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Nocturne Studio PH by Kohi in Maginhawa, Quezon City. The festival opens with TANGHAL x ALTERNATIBO, a platform showcasing alternative forms of contemporary performance-making by independent artists. Running alongside it is TURO x TALAKAYAN, a series of workshops and discussions on visual art, performance-making, event production, and other creative disciplines. This year’s lineup features four performances: Watashi ( ) La Institución: State of the Artist ng Bayan-gei ( )by JHE Project, a musical lecture-performance which explores cultural exchange, neo-colonial structures, and the realities of sustaining an artistic practice rooted in local communities; Get Ready With Us for a 1 Gay Show (Isang Performance Lecture), presenting three stories of queer individuals navigating love, struggle, and growth across different stages of life; Within and Without End by the Langgam Performance Troupe which is framed as an open rehearsal, inviting audiences to witness the creative process through actor warm-ups, improvisation, run-throughs, and conversations between the performer, director, and dramaturg, and an accompanying lecture which explores the company’s Open Rehearsal framework; and, Pahaulian by Miel Marka El, a lecture-performance in which the artist traces the creation of a solo autoethnographic work rooted in her Siquijor heritage. Tickets are priced at P600 for regular admission and walk-ins, and P450 for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.


Adopt a cat

THE 2nd Comeownity Adoption Drive will be held on July 12, Sunday, at the Quantum Skyview, Upper Ground B, Gateway Mall 2 at Cubao, Quezon City. Araneta City’s adoption drive features 28 cats who will be waiting to be adopted. The event will be held in partnership with Pet Kingdom, and the adopters will get perks and promos as they choose their next pets.


See the 4th piece in the Babae Sa Septic Tank franchise

THE Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) presents Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 4: Oh Sh*t! It’s Live sa Cheter! which is ongoing until Aug. 16 (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.) at the PETA Theater Center in Quezon City. The franchise started with a film starring comic Eugene Domingo playing a heightened version of herself which skewered the indie movie scene. It was followed by another film and a hit series, all of which starred Ms. Domingo. She returns for the fourth entry in the series, this time a play which looks at the messy, hilarious, and painful process of making theater in the Philippines today. Also in the cast are Meann Espinosa, Stella Cañete-Mendoza, Andoy Ranay, JC Santos, Melvin Lee, Marlon Rivera (who directed the first three installments), and Joshua Lim So. It is directed by Maribel Legarda. Tickets are available via TicketWorld. Ticket prices range from P1,800 to P3,500.
