Block indexing off vs NAS/HDD performance (v2.1.0)

Hi team Syncthing, I’m wondering if the option to switch off block indexing, as from v 2.1.0, will have a significant (positive) performance impact on relative slow harddrives and/or on network connected data sources (NAS). Or is this just wishful thinking from my side? Sledge
