A tight matchup between the Toronto Raptors and the Cleveland Cavaliers missed Brandon Ingram for a good portion of the matchup.

As the Raptors entered the second half of action, they officially ruled out the starting forward for the night. Ingram was dealing with a heel-related issue.

After the game, Raptors head coach Darko Rajaković addressed Ingram and his setback.

“As you know, he’s been dealing with his heel,” Rajaković said to reporters.

“He re-aggravated his heel on one play. We tried to re-tape him at halftime. He tried to activate to see if he could be ready for the second half, but he was not able to come and play the second half. Tomorrow, we’ll know more when we do more evaluation.”

While the injury isn’t anything that’s fresh for the Raptors, it reached concerning levels on Wednesday night, leading to an early exit for Ingram.

“Right [we’ve been managing it]. It’s something that’s kind of like, on and off, he was doing well, and then he just re-aggravated it on that play,” Rajaković added.

Brandon Ingram’s Status Is Unclear

Ingram left Wednesday’s Game 5 action after seeing the court for 11 minutes.

The veteran forward missed both of his shots from the field and scored just one point from the free-throw line.

Ingram came down with one rebound, produced two assists, and blocked one shot.

While Ingram has had an up-and-down series for Toronto, his absence had a negative effect on the Raptors on Wednesday. The Cavaliers took care of business with a 125-120 victory.

Game 6 between the Raptors and the Cavaliers is set for Friday, May 1. The tip-off time has not been determined just yet.

As far as Ingram goes, further evaluation of his heel will be necessary. Based on what the Raptors come up with, Ingram could be in danger of missing their sixth outing of the series.

In the first four games, Ingram has been shooting 38.5% from deep, averaging 14.8 points per game.
