Kevin Durant reacts during action as the Rockets receive a positive injury update ahead of Game 1 against the Lakers.

Dealing with a knee contusion, the Houston Rockets superstar Kevin Durant was questionable to play in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Considering the circumstances of the series, it didn’t come as a surprise when Durant was cleared for action and made his Houston playoff debut.

Amid his first postseason matchup with the Rockets, Durant became the seventh player in NBA history to notch an impressive playoff feat.

Heading into Game 2 between the Rockets and the Lakers, Durant had 4,985 points in the playoffs. While he becomes the seventh player to reach 5,000, Durant still remains seventh in all-time playoff scoring in the NBA.

Durant is currently chasing San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan. The Hall of Famer has 5,172 playoff points under his belt.

The top five include Shaquille O’Neal (5,250), Kobe Bryant (5,640), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (5,672), Michael Jordan (5,987), and LeBron James (8,308).

After Kevin Durant was ruled out ahead of Game 1, the Rockets dropped the ball against the Lakers, who missed Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

Despite missing two key players, LeBron James and the Lakers took advantage of the young Rockets and gained a 1-0 lead in the series.

Durant’s status for Game 2 was up in the air. Although the Rockets had him listed as questionable, the veteran forward was cleared to play. The game was more competitive, but Durant’s presence didn’t change the results.

The veteran star checked in for 40 minutes. He shot 7-12 from the field and made 8-9 shots from the charity stripe. Durant produced 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists. He struggled with taking care of the ball, turning it over nine times.

The Rockets ended up losing 101-94. The Lakers now have a 2-0 lead, despite entering the series as underdogs.

On Friday, April 24, the series will resume with the Houston Rockets hosting. Durant’s status for that game could end up in question as his knee concern lingers.
