Cardinals Receiver Sends Recruiting Message to Aaron Rodg...

Aaron Rodgers is getting recruited to Arizona.

The Arizona Cardinals currently have three potential starting quarterbacks on the roster, but the one who ultimately gets the job may not be any of them.

Aaron Rodgers has still not signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, or officially retired, leading to speculation that Arizona could become an option. One current Cardinal certainty thinks so, and threw Arizona’s hat into the ring for them.

Recently signed wide receiver Kendrick Bourne mentioned Rodgers on X, saying “@AaronRodgers12 Come on we waiting on you.”

Aaron Rodgers to Arizona Gets More Steam from Kendrick Bourne

John Breech of CBS Sports already made an argument for a Rodgers to Arizona move, and now Bourne appears to be on the same wavelength.

“The Cardinals just hired a new offensive coordinator this year in Nathaniel Hackett, who just happens to be best friends with Rodgers,” Breech wrote. “When the QB signed with the Jets in 2023, he essentially brought Hackett with him to New York. The two have a relationship that dates back to their time in Green Bay. Hackett was the offensive coordinator for three seasons with the Packers (2019-21), and Rodgers just happened to win two MVP awards in that span.

“And let’s not forget that the Cardinals are now coached by Mike LaFleur, the brother of Packers coach Matt LaFleur, who coached Rodgers for four seasons in Green Bay. Basically, the Cardinals have a coaching staff that Rodgers would probably find enticing.”

Although Bourne has only been a member of the Cardinals for a few months, he’s already making his opinion known. The former 49er and Patriot has 4,265 career receiving yards and 22 touchdowns and has now unofficially hitched his horse to the Rodgers wagon after recruiting him on social media.

Could Aaron Rodgers Actually End Up in Arizona?

While Arizona is in need of a quarterback, the Rodgers fit raises plenty of questions. He’s 43 years old and would head to a Cardinals team that isn’t ready for a Super Bowl run. And while his name and reputation would do wonders for ticket and merchandise sales, the on-field product has seen decline in recent years. Rodgers set career-lows in yards, touchdowns and yards per attempt for a full season last year with Pittsburgh, and just isn’t the same player anymore.

Meanwhile, Jacoby Brissett or Carson Beck are probably the most probable options for 2026. But Brissett’s ongoing contract dispute and Beck’s inexperience could become factors that lead Arizona to explore a partnership with Rodgers.

So could the Cardinals actually be interested? Quite possibly. His relationship with Hackett could be an interesting wildcard in all of this. But from a football perspective, Rodgers probably doesn’t move the needle much for a team that will be lucky to even make the playoffs.

“At this point, their QB situation is still up in the air,” Breech wrote. “Going into April, Jacoby Brissett appeared to have the inside track, but he’s skipping the team’s voluntary workouts because he wants to be paid like a starter. Instead of giving Brissett more money, the Cardinals could simply call Rodgers and offer that money to him.”
