Jadeveon Clowney #42 of the Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys were pleasantly surprised with what they saw from former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney after signing him in the middle of the 2025 season.

By the end of the year, Clowney had become a starter for the Cowboys. He was one of the main bright spots on a defense that badly needed help.

At this point in the NFL offseason, Clowney remains a free agency. He has been connected to quite a few different teams as a potential target, but no one has signed him yet. Could Dallas consider bringing him back for the 2026 campaign?

So far this offseason, the Cowboys have added a couple pieces to help improve the pass rush. Rashan Gary was acquired from the Green Bay Packers and Malachi Lawrence was drafted in the first round. Dallas has been aggressive on that front.

That being said, Clowney remains a potential option for pass rushing depth.

Cowboys Receive Strong Jadeveon Clowney Prediction

When speaking to an NFL scout that works for an NFC franchise, Clowney’s name came up. The scout believes that his ultimate landing spot will be with the Cowboys.

“Jerry still needs to add to the pass rush,” the scout said. “Clowney produced at a high level last season. Dallas was interested in keeping him at the beginning of the offseason. I think they circle back around on this soon.”

Clowney was a consistent presence for Dallas in 2025. There would be no downside to bringing him back on a one-year deal.

Throughout the course of the 2025 NFL season, the 33-year-old defensive end played in 13 games. He racked up 41 tackles, 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and four defended passes. Those numbers are reason enough for Dallas to re-sign him.

Jadeveon Clowney Could Be a Fit for Many Other Teams

While the Cowboys have received this prediction, there are other teams around the league who could have interest in signing him.

A few of those potential teams are the Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings, and Jacksonville Jaguars. All of those franchises could use more pass rushing help.

Clowney enjoyed his time in Dallas last season. Earlier this offseason, Stephen Jones made it sound like the Cowboys would try to re-sign Clowney when free agency opened up.

“We’ll be talking with his guys right away,” Jones said. “Hopefully with his willingness to want to be here and us wanting him to be here, hopefully we can figure something out.”

To this point, Dallas has not been aggressive in trying to re-sign Clowney. Perhaps that will change in the near future.
