Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams could complete the set with L'Jarius Sneed in free agency.

The Los Angeles Rams’ blockbuster trade for Trent McDuffie stole the headlines this offseason, at least before they drafted Ty Simpson 13th overall in the 2026 draft. But the Rams’ move to sign Jaylen Watson in free agency could prove the most fruitful.

If Watson has his say, it would essentially be a two-for-1 special with former Kansas City Chiefs teammate L’Jarius Sneed.

In the wake of the latest developments for Sneed, Watson is renewing his recruitment efforts.

Jaylen Watson Renews Push to Get L’Jarius Sneed on Rams

GettyL’Jarius Sneed is open to reuniting with Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie in LA with the Rams.

Watson followed McDuffie to LA, signing a three-year, $51 million contract with the Rams in free agency this offseason. The duo, along with Sneed, won two Super Bowls in KC.

The Chiefs traded Sneed to the Tennessee Titans in 2024, where injuries and inconsistency led to his release two seasons into a four-year, $76 million pact. Sneed also faced a legal matter that got resolved on Tuesday, getting Watson’s attention.

“@jay__sneed wassup brudda [eyes emoji],” Watson posted on X on May 5.

Sneed responded with a meme that featured a phrase from an ad for Gruber Law Offices, LL: “One call…That’s all.”

Watson initially sent out a recruitment message when Sneed was released by the Titans, posting an image of the former KC trio from one of their runs.

Availability, or lack thereof, was arguably a bigger issue for Sneed than his on-field performance with the Titans. He appeared in 12 games over his two seasons. However, he allowed a lower completion percentage (58.2%) than he did with the Chiefs (61.6%), per Pro Football Reference.

Sneed’s message seems clear: if the Rams call, he would be open to joining.

L’Jarius Sneed Breaks Silence After Criminal Case Dismissed

L'Jarius Sneed, Los Angeles Rams

GettyL’Jarius Sneed celebrated a major development in his significant legal matter.

Sneed’s situation had been clouded by his legal situation. That is even without considering a reunion for Sneed with McDuffie and Watson on the Rams.

“Dallas based criminal defense attorney Michael J. Todd announced that all criminal charges against his client, former Chiefs and Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, have been dismissed,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on X on May 5. “Sneed originally was charged with aggravated assault that was reduced by the grand jury to the misdemeanor offense of failure to report the commission of a felony. The state of Texas dismissed the misdemeanor completely Friday, which Todd said leaves Sneed without conviction or admission of any kind.”

Sneed posted a strong message with that obstacle out of the way.

“Been such a toll on me pass two years, the weight is finally off [hands together/praying emoji],” Sneed said in his post on X on May 5. “& tell that devil I’m coming back for everything he tried to still [sic].”

The Rams could boast the same cornerback trio that helped the Chiefs win back-to-back Super Bowls in 2022 and 2023 if they add Sneed to McDuffie and Watson.

With another Super Bowl being their goal, such a move would make sense.

Rams Holdover Could Become Trade Candidate

Emmanuel Forbes, Los Angeles Rams

GettyThe Los Angeles Rams declined Emmanuel Forbes Jr.’s fifth-year option.

The Rams return one starting corner from their 2025 team, Emmanuel Forbes, whose situation would go from precarious to ominous if Sneed entered the picture. LA already declined Forbes fifth-year option, a decision that was widely expected.

However, pre-draft reports indicated that head coach Sean McVay and the Rams were interested in cornerbacks in the 2026 class. That was even with McDuffie and Watson in tow.

A move for Sneed would push Forbes to the bench.

The timing would be bad. Unrestricted free agency is on the horizon, and he already faces diminished opportunities to showcase what he can do. He will be the third option, with McDuffie and Watson being the base options.

Forbes’ spot as the other outside corner when McDuffie slides inside, if that is indeed how the Rams plan to use him, would almost certainly go to Sneed if he signed with LA.

That could put Forbes on the trade block before the deadline, but a lot must happen first.
