Léa Seydoux on Her Cannes Fashion, Best Red Carpet Tip, a...

Léa Seydoux is keeping busy. The actor has two films in competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival: Gentle Monster, a drama about a family torn apart by pedophilia, and The Unknown, a psychological body-swapping fantasy.

The actor is no stranger to the festival, but her double duty is a particular feat. “There was a year where I had four films in competition, but I got COVID,” Seydoux tells Vogue. “Four films! I don’t think it will ever happen to me again.”

Still, despite sitting out a quadruple-header, Seydoux is a seasoned red carpet professional. Her secret to a relaxed stroll down the Croisette? “I love to have a glass of champagne before I walk the red carpet because it puts me in a good mood to have a glass of champagne,” she says. “It really helps, actually—I think that the secret for the red carpet is to be just as relaxed as possible.”

Seydoux used her fashion to help draw the line between her two films. “I wanted to have two different styles,” she tells Vogue. “The first one, I wanted something feminine and a bit glamorous and the second one, I wanted something more masculine.” Still, you won’t find Seydoux dressing to match her films. “What I try to do when I dress up is not to disappear behind the clothes. I don’t like when it’s too fashion—I’m not a model, I’m an actress,” she says. “I like to own the clothes in a way. I don’t want the clothes to own me.”

A longtime friend of Louis Vuitton, Seydoux turned to the house to fashion her bisected Cannes wardrobe. The brief? “I like to be chic, but I also like to be sexy, feminine,” she says. The actor and her stylist, Alexandra Imgruth, felt that Old Hollywood fit her vision and sent their ideas to the Vuitton team. “I love this period. I just thought that women were so elegant, like Grace Kelly,” she says. “I like to be a bit timeless in a way.”

Seydoux hit the ground running at the Gentle Monster premiere, where she swanned along the Croisette in a navy off-the-shoulder gown with a sculptural, lettuce neckline and a black velvet waist sash. For the photocall the following day, she kept the feminine look in a white mock-neck silk blouse with a layered collar, which she tucked into a black vinyl miniskirt.

When it came time for The Unknown portion of the festival, the actor pivoted to suiting. A sartorial 180 from her flowing navy gown, she opted for a sleek three-piece suit for The Unknown premiere. But between the body-hugging flared trousers and the cropped, militaristic white vinyl skirt suit she wore for the photocall, the Vuitton team ensured that Seydoux’s sexy, feminine brief was met.

In a brief diversion from her all-Vuitton-all-the-time look, Seydoux and her friend Adèle Exarchopoulos found a moment to show each other some love via graphic tees. After Exarchopoulos, her Blue Is the Warmest Color co-star, arrived at the Nice Airport in a “Léa Forever” T-shirt, Seydoux returned the favor with an “Adèle” baseball cap and graphic tee.

“It was her idea,” Seydoux explains. “She asked me if she could wear a T-shirt with my face on it, and I said, ‘Well, if you do it, I have to do it as well.’ It was like a game between us.” It was an especially meaningful moment for the actors, who won the Palme d’Or 13 years ago. “This year she also has a movie in competition. She’s remarkable in her film,” she says. “So I’m proud of her, and it was a way to be like we’re together in this.”
