Cardinals fan dangerously hangs off upper deck ledge in t...

A group of fans prevented a potential tragic situation Wednesday night when one pulled a man off the ledge of one of the upper sections at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

A video posted to social media by Instagram user Oliver Stoffel showed a fan in a blue shirt and shorts straddling the ledge in what appeared to be the 200s section, with one leg dangling off the side.

“Oh, my God,” said an individual watching the scene.

Absolutely insane video of a fan who almost jumped off the upper deck at Busch Stadium today during the Cardinals and Brewers game 😳

A fan in a red cap then walked up behind the individual and grabbed him from behind, with the individual in blue attempting to hit the man while the hat-wearing spectator pulled him down.

Several other fans walked over at this point, with one appearing to lock in a chokehold of sorts on the fan who had put himself in a precarious situation.

The fan in blue used his hands to hit that fan in the face area, and it appeared the numbers game caught up to him with a group of fans keeping him down.

“Is there security up there?” one fan said in the background of the video.

Fans have died at games after falling long distances, with one attendee at a Rangers game in 2011 dying after falling from the railing while attempting to grab a ball thrown her way.

These heroic fans prevented a potentially fatal situation nearly one year after a fan at a Pirates game at PNC Park fell 21 feet from the stands to the field last April 30 and was in critical condition.

The individual, Kavan Markwood, landed in the intensive care unit and had to use a breathing machine, according to Allegheny General Hospital’s chief medical officer.

Markwood later told triblive.com he had “broken everything.”

“I’m all right,” he told the outlet. “I can’t really sleep. I have a lot of back pain.”

The crowd of 25,772 saw the Cardinals fall, 6-2, to the rival Brewers to split a two-game set that included a rainout in the middle game Tuesday.
