Dana White’s blunt reason for UFC not doing Pride Nights ...
Grant Young · 2026-06-25 · via New York Post

UFC CEO Dana White has been notorious for defending free speech within his MMA fighting promotion.

This has sparked some backlash in recent years, given the wide array of controversial things that UFC fighters have said inside the octagon and done outside of it, such as former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier trying to fight an airport employee over the weekend.

While the UFC has celebrated several cultures over the past few years (namely Mexico during Noche UFC) and the USA during the UFC Freedom 250 event on June 14, which took place on the White House South Lawn on President Donald Trump’s birthday, the fact that the UFC hasn’t yet honored Pride Month has gotten attention recently.

White made it clear that UFC fans and critics alike should not expect a Pride Night celebration any time soon during an interview with Tomi Lahren that was published on YouTube on June 23.

“I’m staring at my roster of top 15 fighters. You know, I’m assuming we have some gay fighters. I don’t know how many of them are openly [gay]. I know that we have gay female fighters. I don’t give a s***. I don’t care what you are, who you are, what you do. We don’t talk about that, any of that stuff,” White said when asked about why the UFC doesn’t do Pride Nights.

He then noted that the UFC has a T-shirt that has the rainbow flag on it before adding, “Everybody, do your own thing. I’m just not into it.”

White added that he’s still upset about the viral comments UFC heavyweight Josh Hokit said regarding former first lady Michelle Obama during the UFC Freedom 250 event.

Nobody can blame White for not sticking to his guns, for better or for worse.
