It has been an incredibly special season for Heart of Midlothian Football Club. They have not won the Premiership since 1960, and now are one result away from winning the title for the first time in 66 years. It has been a terrible 21st century for Hearts. They went into administration, had to go down to the second tier of Scottish football multiple times and churned through 21 different managers in 25 years. However, Hearts finally found their man in Derek McInnes.

Derek McInnes was announced as the new manager at Hearts almost exactly a year ago today. He has done a remarkable job in his first season at the club. At the very worst, Hearts will finish second in the league, something they haven’t done since 2006. However, winning the title would instantly make him one of the greatest figures in the club’s history. Not only would it be the club’s first title in 66 years, but just like if Celtic won, it would mean a lot in terms of bragging rights.

Celtic and Rangers have dominated the Scottish Premiership over the centuries, winning 55 titles apiece. However, Hearts and Hibs have had their own battle for supremacy in Edinburgh over the years. Those clubs have four Premiership titles each, and this title for Hearts would break that deadlock in what seemed like an impossible underdog story. Hearts has a chance to break its 66-year drought, break its deadlock with Hibs for all-time Premiership titles and become the first club outside of Glasgow to win a Premiership since Aberdeen in 1985.

My best bet for this match is for Hearts to cover the spread of +0.5 goals. Sometimes in life, you need to believe in something. The atmosphere at Celtic Park in Glasgow on Saturday will be absolute mayhem. There is a real reason to doubt the quality of the refereeing, the difference in quality of the players, and how much belief Hearts has that they can actually get a result here. However, while this title win would be a miracle for Hearts, getting a result in this match would not be.

These two sides have faced off three times this season and Celtic have not won any of them. Hearts won 3-1 at home in the first matchup of the season, a result that made this title chase start to feel real. They also went to Celtic Park and got a 2-1 win in December. At the start of the new year, the sides played to a 2-2 draw in Edinburgh. Hearts have already gotten the result necessary to win the title in all three fixtures against Celtic this season. If they can handle the overwhelming crowd at Celtic Park and block out the monumental stakes, they are more than capable of winning this match, let alone getting the one point they need to win the title.

The duo of Lawrence Shankland and Claudio Braga will be the ones to watch for Hearts in this match. The Hearts’ captain and the Portuguese have combined for 29 goals this season and will need to provide some magic here. An early goal could dampen that Celtic crowd. One of the two of them scored a goal in each of the three matches against Celtic this season. A goal from both of them could be what Hearts needs to make history on Saturday.
