BonSplit™

bonSplit is an AI-powered receipt and expense app for couples, families and shared households. It solves a small but constant friction in everyday life: in modern households with separate accounts, multiple cards and online orders, nobody really knows by the end of the month who paid how much toward shared costs. Existing tools only solve half the problem — banking apps see totals but not products, split apps divide amounts but don't read receipts, and spreadsheets get abandoned after a few weeks.

bonSplit closes that gap. Take a photo of any receipt and the app automatically recognizes the merchant, date, individual line items, prices, totals and categories — every single position on the bill, not just the sum. Shared expenses can then be split per item or evenly between household members. At the end of each month, bonSplit shows exactly who paid what and whether a balancing payment is due, acting as a neutral settlement partner instead of awkward money conversations.

Beyond splitting, bonSplit gives you spending dashboards by category and merchant, answering real questions like "how much do we actually spend on groceries?" Recurring expenses such as rent, electricity, internet and subscriptions can be saved as templates and flow automatically into the monthly overview. Every receipt is stored in a permanent digital archive with CSV and PDF export — useful for taxes, warranties, insurance claims or simply keeping records.

The app is built mobile-first as a progressive web app and is specialized for German receipts, with all their quirks: merchant abbreviations, discounts, deposits (Pfand) and VAT rates. The receipt recognition runs on a high-quality vision model, deliberately chosen for accuracy over cheaper alternatives, because reliable extraction is the core of the product.
