Leaker gives iPhone 18 Pro updates on two design changes
Ryan Christoffel · 2026-04-09 · via 9to5Mac

It’s been a big week for iPhone Fold rumors, but a reputable leaker just posted iPhone 18 Pro updates related to two potential design changes.

Latest updates indicate iPhone 18 Pro’s design is not yet finalized

Today in a pair of new posts, Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station offered updates on what to expect from the iPhone 18 Pro’s design.

The first post addresses changes to iPhone 18 Pro’s Dynamic Island.

Reporting from several sources has pointed to Apple moving some Face ID components under the iPhone 18 Pro’s display. This will reportedly enable a Dynamic Island that’s about 35% smaller than on iPhone 17 Pro.

Previously though, Digital Chat Station was the lone voice of doubt about the change. He said a smaller Dynamic Island was Apple’s initial plan, but the company was considering reusing molds from last year’s iPhones, which would mean minimal changes to the Dynamic Island.

Now today, he has a new update. Here’s the translated post:

Current feedback from the supply chain suggests an A/B testing scenario: one option retains the existing screen mold, while the other features a “Mini Dynamic Island” with the Face ID RX components positioned beneath the display.

So both options are apparently still being considered by Apple, with a decision yet to come. If the smaller Dynamic Island doesn’t happen, it would remove one of the most notable rumored design changes from iPhone 18 Pro.

In a follow-up post, the leaker replies to a question about the rear camera.

He says that the rectangular plateau design will be unchanged from last year. However, the back will feature “minor adjustments to the body materials and design details.”

This likely refers to the previously rumored modifications that will provide a more uniform design across aluminum and glass cutout. The iPhone 17 Pro has a two-tone design rather than a seamless look. Color options this year will be different too.

Since iPhone 17 Pro offered a bold new design, Apple is unlikely to make major changes again this year. Instead, these latest leaks are in line with the kind of iterative changes we’ve come to expect from most iPhone updates.

How much might iPhone 18 Pro’s design factor into your upgrade decision? Let us know in the comments.
