Accelerate Oracle Cloud Infrastructure monitoring with Datadog OCI QuickStart
2025-06-10 · via Datadog | The Monitor blog

Datadog’s Oracle Cloud Infrastructure integration enables you to collect metrics and logs from your entire OCI stack and monitor them within a single platform alongside other third-party technologies. Datadog’s new OCI QuickStart is a fully managed, single-flow setup experience that helps you monitor your OCI infrastructure and applications in just a few clicks. With support for metrics, logs, and resource metadata out of the box, QuickStart provides full visibility into your OCI environment in just minutes, with support for more than 30 OCI services, including compute services, database services, storage services, and more. In addition, OCI QuickStart enables you to maintain full observability coverage by automatically discovering and monitoring any new resources or OCI compartments.

In this post, we’ll walk through how you can:

Gain full visibility into your OCI environment in a few clicks

To get started, navigate to the OCI Integration tile in Datadog and select Add New Tenancy. The form comes pre-filled with the parameters needed to launch a stack from Oracle Cloud Resource Manager. Once you deploy the stack, Datadog automatically provisions the required services to begin collecting metrics and logs from your OCI tenancy.

This setup is designed for enterprise-scale environments, supporting the ingestion of telemetry data across all compartments by default. If you want more granular control, the integration tile allows you to configure which OCI regions, services, and compartments are monitored.

Configure monitored regions, services, and compartments from the metrics tab.

Once deployed, there’s no need to manually update your integration as your infrastructure changes. Datadog handles scaling and maintenance automatically. From there, you can use the out-of-the-box OCI integration overview dashboard to quickly start exploring key performance metrics across your OCI services, giving you immediate visibility into your environment right after completing the QuickStart setup.

Maintain full observability coverage across your OCI environment

As your OCI environment evolves, whether you’re adding new compartments, provisioning additional resources, or adopting new OCI services, Datadog continuously adjusts its monitoring coverage with no manual intervention required. As you scale your OCI infrastructure, Datadog automatically detects new compartments, including nested ones, without the need to reconfigure or redeploy anything.

When Datadog detects usage of a new OCI service, it also automatically installs the corresponding service-specific integration, unlocking out-of-the-box dashboards and monitors tailored to that service. This enables faster, more detailed troubleshooting and visibility into the metrics that matter most when you need them.

With this fully automated approach, Datadog helps you maintain complete and up-to-date observability as your cloud environment grows, without the operational overhead.

View your OCI infrastructure resources in a single place

In addition to collecting metrics and logs, OCI QuickStart enables optional resource collection, offering deep visibility into OCI resources like compute instances, storage buckets, and networks.

Toggle resource collection in the integration tile.

When enabled, Datadog ingests detailed metadata about your cloud resources and displays them in the Resource Catalog. This makes it easier to correlate telemetry data with infrastructure attributes and quickly identify misconfigurations or issues.

For example, you can view an OCI Instance’s availability domain, shape, and life cycle state, or examine a storage bucket’s public access type and storage tier. This level of context helps reduce time to resolution when troubleshooting across large-scale OCI environments.
