On Sunday, the Atlanta Braves are playing the finale of their three-game series against the Colorado Rockies in Denver.

The Braves are off to an excellent start to the year, and will look to go for the sweep of the Rockies.

UPDATE: The Braves won Sunday’s game 11-6.

8-Year Player Acquired By New Team

On Sunday, the Braves announced that one of their players had been acquired by the Seattle Mariners off waivers.

The Braves wrote (via X): “Additionally, Atlanta outrighted RHP Joel Payamps to Triple-A Gwinnett. LHP José Suarez was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners.”

Suarez had been in the middle of his second season playing for the Braves.

So far this year, he has gone 0-1 with a 6.61 ERA in eight games.

The Mariners also made their own announcement on social media.

They wrote: “We have claimed LHP José Suarez off waivers from the Braves and he has been added to the 40-man roster. #TridentsUp”

Suarez’s MLB Career

Suarez had spent the first six years of his career playing for the Los Angeles Angles (before the last two in Atlanta).

During the 2021 season, the 28-year-old went 8-8 with a 3.75 ERA in 23 games (14 starts) for the Angels.

Daniel Kramer of MLB.com wrote: “Mariners roster move: They’ve claimed LHP José Suarez off waivers from the Braves. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, OF Rhylan Thomas has been designated for assignment.”

Over 114 career games, Suarez has gone 22-30 with a 5.35 ERA.

He could be a good low-risk addition to the Mariners.

Braves And Mariners Right Now

The Braves are currently at the top of the National League East with a 24-10 record in 34 games.

They have gone 12-4 in 16 games on the road.

After their series with the Rockies, the Braves will play the Mariners (in Seattle) on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Mariners are currently 16-18 in 34 games, which has them as the third-place team in the American League West.

They are 10-9 in 19 games at home.

On Sunday, the Mariners will conclude their series with the Kansas City Royals.
